How long does it take for a COVID-19 vaccine to take effect after you've been vaccinated?

The COVID-19 vaccine starts working after 7 days.

What are the possible side effects of a COVID-19 vaccine?

You may experience side effects after the shot; this also happens with other shots, such as the flu shot. Sometimes people experience side effects after the COVID-19 vaccine, such as fever, headache, and fatigue. These usually last 1–3 days.

Is it still recommended that I wait 15 minutes at the vaccination center after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine?

Yes. The European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) recommend waiting 15 minutes after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. This applies to all COVID-19 vaccines, including this one.

I may have had an allergic reaction to a COVID-19 vaccine. Can I get the new COVID-19 vaccine?

Please contact your family doctor. Your family doctor care physician will determine whether you can receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the vaccination site. Or, he or she may refer you to a specialist at Fundashon Mariadal. At Fundashon Mariadal, they will reassess whether you are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

I've had COVID-19 and received two or more COVID-19 vaccine doses. Do I need another COVID-19 vaccine dose?

Yes. The protection provided by the COVID-19 vaccines wears off over time. This means there is a greater chance that you will become seriously ill if you become infected. Or that you will continue to experience symptoms long after the infection—this is also known as Long COVID. The new COVID-19 vaccine provides better protection against COVID-19.
